St. Angela Merici School, a ministry of St. Angela Merici Parish in Fairview Park, provides a Catholic faith-based education with a personal approach. Its unique learning model of lower school and upper school positions our current enrollment of 389 students to enjoy a well-rounded, academically rigorous experience with special emphasis on faith formation, community and leadership. In addition to core competencies, St. Angela Merici’s curriculum incorporates religious instruction, languages (including Latin and Spanish), technology, art and music.
Our newly developed Fine Arts Model allows our lower school students to participate in musical foundations classes twice a week with focus on reading and composing music, developing primary skills in the music curriculum with the help of ukuleles and interactive journals. Our upper school is able to hone in on depth to the visual arts twice a week with emphasis on digital photography, journaling, and refining visual arts skills. Additionally, for the past several years our students in grades 4-8 have the option to take part in instrumental music through our partnership with Music Alliance over the past several years.
Finally, we are very proud to have developed sound inquiry based teaching and learning within our school, integrated across content areas, with the help of a wide variety of community partners. With a focus on the engineering process and inquiry based collaborative learning in all of our grades, as well as teacher professional development to assist in meeting the needs of today’s learners, we have been blessed to implement the many facets of STEAM learning. Our STEAM based approach to teaching and learning allow for students to embrace critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication into daily practice. With preparation for high school, college and beyond, St. Angela Merici School is educating tomorrow’s Catholic leaders in an innovative way.
