Community Leaders
You know that the vitality of your community is determined by many factors, ranging from the business climate to vibrant social organizations and the condition of the city school district. But ensuring that your community thrives in the future depends heavily on one important factor: the next generation of productive citizens. And reaching the next generation of citizens can be done through the classroom.
STEM is a unique approach to education that brings rigor and project-based learning into the classroom in a new way and helps students develop the skills necessary for success in tomorrow’s workplace. Strongly anchored in partnerships including preK-12 education, higher education and business, students and teachers in your community benefit from first-hand and real-life learning experiences. Partners open their doors to provide mentoring opportunities, apprenticeships and learning experiences that effectively engage students and teachers with community professionals. Through STEM, classroom learning is aligned with local economic cluster and business needs.
The Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN) serves to connect, share and build upon STEM-education initiatives in the state to create a borderless education network. And that means community leaders like you can engage in the STEM discussion, network with your peers across Ohio and join hands with educators, academicians and business partners in your community.
Below are some helpful resources for community leader engagement. For additional assistance please contact us online using the Contact Form, by email to OSLN@battelle.org, or by phone at 1-800-201-2011.
